CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 21 JUNE 2016 AT 2 PM (EEST)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has won a breakthrough order of 18 all-electric automated guided vehicles (AGVs) that will be supplied to PSA Singapore. The order is part of PSA's strategic investment in automation technologies to maintain its premier status as the world's leading transshipment hub. The equipment is scheduled for delivery during 2017.

"AGV development project to PSA Singapore is one of our new product development projects demonstrating our ability to deliver a new solution for a fully automated terminal. The flexibility and openness of the partnership between PSA Singapore and Kalmar are the cornerstones for our success. This order is a solid example of our cooperation," says Ismo Matinlauri, Vice President, Solution sales and Marketing, Kalmar Automation and Projects.

The new all-electric AGV for PSA complements Kalmar's intelligent horizontal transportation product offering. Kalmar has introduced several industry-firsts such as the automated straddle carrier in 2005, hybrid shuttle carrier in 2013 and most recently the all-electric Kalmar FastCharge(TM) solution in 2015. With the all-electric AGV for PSA, Kalmar strengthens its leadership position in horizontal transportation and port automation. Kalmar has the most extensive product offering that serves different types of customer needs.

Kalmar is a long term supplier of different port equipment and services to PSA Singapore. They include Kalmar terminal tractors, reachstackers and empty container handlers for which Kalmar also provides service and maintenance.
